From Brush to Business: Making Your Art Work

"From Brush to Business" will focus on the individual artist and the team that makes a gallery exhibition happen. Students will both make art and learn the ropes to earning a living making art. Together the group will create, plan, and set up an art exhibition. Students will design and print tickets; make, promote and sell their art; curate the exhibition; and prepare an art gallery show. Everyone on the team will have a role which features their personal strengths! Profits from the exhibition will be divided based on work and time put into the overall event.  

Introduction to Video Production

MONDAYS from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Digital Creation Studio @ 2208 MLK

Ages 15 & UP

This class will introduce students to video production through a theory based, hands-on approach. Topics include the fundamental technical aspects of the digital video camera, camera shots and composition, aesthetic elements and techniques, and non-linear editing. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they learned through exercises and projects.

Photography: Concept to Creation

Ages 15 & UP

"Photography: Concept to Creation" is a hands-on, activity-based photography/video class, designed to help students go beyond taking snapshots to develop their creativity and awareness through the art and science of photography. This course uses accessible technology to engage students in creative ways, enhancing the necessary skills to shoot photographs that can really impact the viewer. From landscape panoramas, portraits to still-life compositions, this class will teach students a whole new way to see the world. The instructor will focus on DSLR shooting, giving students the chance to build their portfolio, work with professional gear, actors, models, and more, with professional photographers on site to help with setup. Whatever your level or passion, we’ll help you take big leaps, fast.  Photographs and video works are exhibited at course end.
